This is an honest question, as I do not pretend to know the answer: how much of Nestlé’s involvement in Côte d’Ivoire is due to a genuine desire to raise the quality of life of their supply chain, and how much is due to a genuine desire to distance themselves from allegations of slave labor being in that supply chain? I fear I’m being cynical. Should I grant them benefit of the doubt?
